Proper Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance.
How many times have we heard that saying (or one like it), or even used it ourselves? As GovCon professionals and servant leaders, it's our job to be good stewards of whatever resources placed under our charge. Poor planning, or sometimes no planning whatsoever, is one of the worst ways to steward God's resources.
Take the last Blue Bird or pop-up proposal you chased. If you look honestly at your team's effort, how efficient was it compared to a well-planned pursuit? What about your success chasing that shiny object? Just because everyone is talking about cheap, mass-produced drones as the future, does that mean your company will succeed if you enter that market now?
Prior planning is more than an effective business tool, Servant Leader. It's Godly.
Take the Biblical story of Samson (Judges 13-16). He didn't show up one day, get blessed, and tear down the Philistine temple to Dagon. He was born for it.
Let me say that again, Servant Leader. God planned for Samson to destroy Dagon's temple and the Philistine leaders even before Samson was born.
Dagon's temple wasn't a Blue Bird. It wasn't a shiny object. God planned it and carefully enacted His plan over decades.
So, the next time you're tempted to jump on something without much planning, ask yourself, would you, your company, and your charges be better served planning for the next Philistine uprising?
God bless, and have a wonderful week, Servant Leader.
